I Will Not Fret

August 1, 2022

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6-7 NIVUK.

Paul wrote this text to the Philippians from a prison cell. It shows how amazing it is that you can have peace, even under such circumstances when we decide not to fret (continually worrying and anxious) but pray.

Naturally, it’s being a man to try to solve problems ourselves, try to make the decision, and rule over the outcome. I have been guilty of fretting and trying to solve it myself. Yet, when we don’t pray, we are simply showing God that we are not depending on Him when the truth is He is everything we need. The Lord wants it to be a natural response for us to bring everything to Him in prayer, no matter what it is, and not to fret. Let Him decide, solve it, and rule over the outcome, trusting in Him.

Starting today, be an ocean of calm and pray. Be still and know He is God. Don’t spend your day fretting. Give it to God and get some peace. Then, give thanks for it. The fruit of every prayer is joy, peace, and His perfect will done for you.

Prayer: Father God. Thank you for Your ever-abounding mercy and great kindness. I don’t have to fret. I won’t spend this whole day in worry. Thank you that You always hear me and that You will answer. As I pray with thanksgiving, I receive Your joy and peace. Lead me and let Your perfect will be done in my life. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
