Jesus, the greatest Gift.

December 23, 2023

“So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn” Luke 2:6-7, NKJV.

Joseph and Mary desperately needed a room, but the inn had none. Two people had been on this incredible journey for many months, and now this is how it ends. Yet, Jesus was born in a manger.

Even as a man, I find myself getting very emotional as I consider the symbolism from God because it wasn’t the cleanest place. It is a trough or feeder for animals. At the French root of the word, manger means “to eat”. The animals would come to this open box to eat and be satisfied.

He came humble with no crown. Holy but became dirty. Rich but born poor. Innocent but born to be found guilty. Owner of all, but literally came with nothing. Truly, Jesus came only to save. The Bread of Life came in a manger to meet our need, and now any man that hungers and thirsts can come to eat and be satisfied. Right in the middle of mankind’s sin, God gave the world His greatest gift. In the middle of our mess and mistakes, you’ll always find Jesus meet us to save us. May this truth fill you with joy and holy emotion during your Christmas time because of who Jesus is.

Prayer: Father, I honor you. I praise you, Jesus, for coming to save us. The manger shows you came and met us where man was in sin. You met me where I was. Thank you for always meeting me where I need you most and giving me salvation and victory. You are the reason for the season, and the greatest Gift. Hallelujah! In your name, I pray, Amen.
