“Listen to me, my fellow Israelites, my people. I had it in my heart to build a house as a place of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, for the footstool of our God, and I made plans to build it. But God said to me, ‘You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood.’ “Yet the Lord, the God of Israel, chose me from my whole family to be king over Israel forever…” 1 Chronicles 28:2-4, NIV.
One morning I woke up in a hurry, already moving forward with a plan and what I thought I needed to do. Yet, as I sought God and went to Him about one thing, He showed me another. He revealed to me this was actually His desired plan, and He took me in a totally different direction than I expected.
Sometimes, if not careful, we can go ahead of God into something with our preconceived plan when we need to have an open heart for whatever He wants to do. As with David, God may have something different in mind. What He desires, He graces you for, He backs it, it will stand, and you will be powerfully blessed in it.
Even in the beginning, God said everything He made was very good. His plan for you is very good. He will have something much better, more glorious, and more rewarding than you could imagine. Yet, it begins with acknowledging and inquiring about His plan for you. Don’t approach the day, and don’t continue in this season in your life with your own plan. Ask God for His.
Prayer: Father, I stop for a moment and acknowledge you. What is your will, and what is your plan for me? Help me slow down and not have a preconceived plan. I give you room for whatever you want. I want your plan, and it’s very good. Each day, help me to flow with how you lead me. I thank you, Lord. In Jesus, name, Amen!
