Don’t Chase Vanity. Keep Chasing God.

December 19, 2017

“Thus saith the Lord, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?” Jeremiah 2:5, NKJV.

God asked Israel the question is there something in Me that would cause you not to want Me? What sin is found in Me that you would not follow after Me and go far away from Me after other gods? What harm do you think I would do toward you? Let that sink in for moment. They said God You don’t work. Your ways don’t work and You will default on Your promises. You are not good and we rather live for what’s empty because we don’t believe You can fill us.

This is an issue of the heart that Israel had at the time, that we must be careful of in these times. They rather live according to what’s vain–what is empty and the things that will never satisfy.

No matter what the devil offers you. No matter how your faith gets tested, know that there is no sin, no ill-motive, no worship-hungry, no pride found in God. He is a holy and just. He will do what He said He will do. His thoughts and plans toward you are of peace, not of evil, to give you an expected end. He is a good, and He does satisfy. He will keep His promises and His word!

The reality is there is always an element of faith regarding experiencing the promises of God. We’ll find Him, His expected end, when we search for Him with all of our hearts. It’s not bless me, then I’ll believe You. It’s rather believe, then you will see what your mighty God will do. That’s when you’ll find His expected end for you. Living for God is satisfying and rewarding in this life, and the life to come. Let nothing derail you from that.

Prayer: Father, thank You. I will not be deceived to pursue what is empty, but I will pursue You. Thank you Jesus for saving me. There is nothing wrong with You and You work! You word works! Help me to continue to serve You, knowing You do satisfy with good things and a good life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
