An hour of priority.

February 19, 2023

“But more than that, I count everything as loss compared to the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [and of growing more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with Him—a joy unequaled]. For His sake I have lost everything, and I consider it all garbage, so that I may gain Christ” Philippians 3:7-8, Amplified.

The Apostle Paul made a comparison. He placed the weight of importance, priority, and meaning on what he had accomplished. Of all that he gained, nothing compared to the importance and priority of his calling to know Christ.

Your 9 to 5 job and everything that comes with it is important, but keep it in its place. Accolades are good, but keep them in their place. Count it all dung compared to knowing Christ. Count it all dung compared to fulfilling your calling to spread the Gospel and be everything God created you to be. Make everything else small compared to Christ, and go after Him with everything you’ve got. Give everything else a lighter perspective, seeing it all for what it really is. Give it all a healthier perspective, and allow nothing to take your joy and peace. Make an adjustment from being driven by pleasing people and what they think about you. It’s not about how people think, but what God thinks of you is all that matters.

Whatever that looks like for you, count it all of no worth and let no higher priority than knowing Jesus to be in your life.

Prayer: Father, I love you, and I give you praise. There’s no higher priority right now than Jesus. Help me walk this out in my life. Free me from misplaced priorities and give me a right, a healthy view of everything in my life. I discern the hour we’re in. Let everything high be brought low in my life. I count it as dung that I may know Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
