A real desire.

March 2, 2023

“Then Abram said, ‘Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!’ And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, ‘This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.’ Then He brought him outside and said, ‘Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.’ And He said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be.’ Genesis 15:3-4, NKJV.

Abram had lived for a long time with a desire. He wanted a son. Yet, when he told God he had an heir already in the house, the Lord responded with no, that’s not going to be your heir. You will have your own son to be your heir. I’m going to give it to you.

Sometimes, when we look at our lives, conditions, and age, we wonder if we receive what we truly, purely desire. Will God give it to you? You may feel like Abram, where you have already looked and accepted an alternative, something second to what you truly desire. But like God’s response to Abram’s, so is God’s saying to you. He’s going to give it to you.

God is your great and exceeding reward, and in His will for you, in His timing, He wants to give you His best. Don’t accept the easy alternative. Don’t stop believing. Wait on the Lord. Abram not only received his very own heir but descendants as countless as the stars, and even you are one of them. God really does care about your desire, and He wants you to delight in Him, receiving by faith that He’s not only going to give it to you, but it will be exceedingly and abundantly more than what you could ask or think.

Prayer: Father, You know what my real desire is. Forgive me if I’ve secretly given up or settled. You will give me what I desire and more because I delight in You. Help me to wait on you. I get right back in faith, and like Abram, I will trust you. Hallelujah! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
