“The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it” Proverbs 10:22, ESV.
You could bless yourself with what you think you desire, yet you’ll have to care for it yourself, watch over it yourself and make it prosper yourself. This is the sorrow (toil, labor, work) along with it when we choose to make something happen, and not allow God to. It’s when we had to have it now and didn’t wait on Him.
Yet, when the Lord blesses you, when it’s from Him, there will be no sorrow with it. When He blesses you, it will make you rich and full. You won’t lack. When it’s His will, understand that it will add to you joy and peace. With His blessing, there will be nothing missing and nothing broken. It will also benefit everyone around you. His blessings humble you and overwhelm you, to the point where it even causes you to say surely if not for Jesus, I don’t deserve this.
Be patient and remain in His will. Refuse to bless yourself. Be resolute that God’s will is what’s best for you. Be resolute that if God doesn’t do it, then you don’t want it.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your word today. When You bless me, it makes me rich and adds no sorrow to me. I desire the blessings that only come from You. If You don’t do it, I don’t want it. Help me to be content with Your will for me, and wait on Your best. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
