Walking in Forgiveness

August 6, 2021

“And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him”Luke 17:4, NKJV.

The truth is sometimes forgiveness isn’t easy. Yet, it is one of God’s most powerful tools we move forward with because its’ sole intent is to set our relationships right again like He does. Jesus Christ mediated us back to the Father through his death for our sins. We have been redeemed and goodness and mercy (see Psalm 23:6) follows us each day, always setting our relationship right with Him again and again, no matter what we’ve done.

With that same mercy and goodness, God calls us to freely extend to others. No matter the amount, God commands us to forgive again and again, even toward our toughest critic—ourselves. When we forgive like God, total forgiveness without conditions, people truly experience Him—The God Who truly will remember their mistakes, their decisions that caused damage, no more.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for the mercy you’ve shown me all of my life. I pray you give me the strength to show the same mercy and grace to others. With your help, I forgive everyone who has hurt me. Help me not hold on to it and rehearse it, but to let it go and truly move forward in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12)
