“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek” Hebrews 6:19-20, NKJV.
An anchor is defined as a heavy object attached to a rope or chain and used to moor a vessel to the sea bottom, typically one having a metal shank with a ring at one end for the rope and a pair of curved and/or barbed flukes at the other. It keeps ships from drifting or being pulled away. Therefore, the ship owner rests and puts their hope in their anchor to keep their ship, even in the midst of the biggest storm.
When storms in life come. When you find they begin to rage the most, Jesus is your sure and steadfast hope. He is as sure and steadfast even before the storm came. He is the Anchor of your soul.
Even when you don’t understand it all, trust Him. Like the two curved flukes on an anchor, one side holds by God’s promises and the other holds by His oath, and He cannot lie. There is a sure consolation, a sure hope that is right there to hold you down. That’s what Jesus came for: to anchor you, in the times you feel you’re at your highest or at your lowest. There is a hope that you now always have in Him and eternally. Nothing can move your Anchor. Nothing can move your victory!
Prayer: Thank You, Father, that Jesus is the Anchor of my soul! No matter what is happening around me or in my life, I have a sure hope in You, and the Father is faithful to keep His word. Help me to stand on Your word and keep my eyes on You. You are my joy and peace that I yield to right now. I will always see victory! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
