“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over†Psalm 23:5, NKJV.
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price†Isaiah 55:1, NKJV.
My wife doesn’t like it when she has labored and cooked dinner, but when it’s ready, the kids don’t come to the table to eat.
Jesus has done the labor and paid the cost. He is your peace, your strength, the way, and your very abundant life. In Him, we live, move, and have our being. He has defeated your enemies, seen and unseen, and prepared a table before them for you. Yet, we must come, sit at the table, and eat.
Be encouraged to come sit down with the Father and eat today. You don’t have to check your bank account. Jesus is enough. Come eat without money. You don’t have to wrestle with so much because Jesus did so much. His joy is your strength. You can come boldly to God’s throne, obtain mercy, and find grace in your time of need. You can pray with thanksgiving and get peace you didn’t understand was available to you as God’s son. Slow down and sit down. Everything you need is at the table.
Prayer: Father, I give you praise. Jesus, you are enough. Forgive me if you’ve been asking me to come to the table, but I’ve been trying to figure out life on my own. Help me to sit down and practice your presence, Father. Help me to decide quicker not to wrestle about it, not to become anxious about it, but pray about it. I can feed on your faithfulness. Everything I need is in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
