Check His Stats…

January 27, 2018

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17, NKJV.

If you’re a coach and I recommend a player to add to your team that you could trust to help you win basketball games, but you’ve never seen him, you would ask to let you see his stats. He’s 6’9″ and 33-0 in his career. He’s won a state championship back-to-back. He shoots an astonishing 95% from the free throw line and 55% from the field. In the final minutes of a crucial game-time situation, you would have faith in him. You’ve seen the stats and you would give him with the ball.

You’ve never seen God physically, but according to His word, He’s never lost a battle! He has all power in His hands. Read that He is good and a Rewarder of them that seek Him. Study how with an outstretched arm He rescued Israel from the hands of Egypt. Read how He has carried Israel and this tiny nation still stands today, which owns much of the world’s wealth. Read how in every situation, He has never left the righteous. He is the Healer. Go and stand on the beach and see how far the mighty ocean can come to your feet–God set that boundary for us (Prov. 8:29). At the same time, God split the Red Sea so His children Israel could escape from pharaoh. And after all of that, He loves us beyond our mistakes, obliterated sin by giving His only begotten son Jesus for us, and He raised him from the dead.

Just like with that player, fellowship with God’s word so you can know more about the God Who is on your side. Even under pressure, you can have faith knowing He’s always on time. If you’re going through a tough time–check His stats–remind yourself of the victory you have in Christ Jesus. Sit and hear the preaching of God’s word to you. The more you know Him, the more and more faith you’ll have by His word!

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your word. Give me a desire for more of Your word. Develop in me the habit of reading and studying to know more about You and that You’re on my side. Help me to commit to hear the preaching of Your word. May it increase my faith and change my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Study: Exodus 14:21-31, Deut. 5:15, John 3:16, Luke 17:5-6, 1 Cor. 6:14
