Take the First Step

January 27, 2018

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV.

The hardest step for many of us is the first one. When you received Jesus, you stepped out of who you were, into a new person in Christ. You step out of your sin and into His righteousness. Salvation and all that comes with it is yours, including the love of God, joy, authority, deliverance, wholeness, oneness with God again, prosperity, access, justification, right-standing with God, freedom, forgiveness, wisdom, and power. Words just cannot explain, yet you are not the same. It all came from one pivotal decision, one step of faith.

This is our model for entering into God’s promises and for day-to-day living. It takes a step of faith to decide to live holy. It takes a step of faith to forgive a trusted friend or mentor, to love again, to start a business or ministry, even if you’ve failed before, or to continue applying for a job when the odds are against you. His direction affirms He is with you and there is nothing too hard for Him. He will bless you, yet you have to start somewhere. If you don’t start, you’ll never see Him help you finish.

Your start is another step using your seed of faith, after which nothing is impossible, and every promise from God for you is obtained.

Prayer: Father God, I thank You for your word to me. I make the first step to believe and yield to You, and I trust You will step in with Your ability to help me. Help me move from fear into faith. Help me step out of bondage into freedom. Help me step out of selfishness, into Your love. Help me step out of weakness and into Your strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
