A Man that Loves the Word

December 22, 2017

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” John 6:63, NKJV.

I can’t say in my life that I’ve always enjoyed reading and studying God’s word. I can’t say I always feel like doing it when He tells me to do it. Yet, it never ceases to fail how much life God’s word brings to me. I have found it to encourage me when I feel lost. I have found it to give me peace in the storm. I’ve found it to give me answers, joy and strength. After seeing over and over again Him breath on me through His word and make me alive, I’ve come to love it more. It has come to not be a chore anymore.

His word is living just like God Himself, and whatever He speaks to, life comes into it. Whoever will receive it, life comes to them. This is why the Lord tugs on us each day to partake of it. His word is like a spark of fire that gets close to you and starts a flame. It will spark a fire of courage in you. It will spark a flame of joy and love for God in you. His word will fire you up about God, what Jesus has done for you and all of the great things He has in store.

It may not FEEL exciting, but it isn’t about feeling excited. It’s about BEING excited. It’s about BEING victorious. It’s about BEING a strong man when the pressure comes to knock you down. After you get His word, you’ll not just feel strong, but you’ll live strong. Feed your faith in these times. As you spend time with it, the water of His word will run through every part of you, soul and spirit, and bring mighty life to every dry place.

The Father doesn’t want you to merely breath and exist each day, but truly live as He does. His words are Spirit and they are life itself. Great peace have those that love His law and nothing offends them. Great change inside you will miraculously happen. Give yourself to it and choose to love it. Great faith and confidence as a man you’ll have when God’s word breaths life into you.

Prayer: Father, honestly, reading and studying feels like a chore. Make me into a man that loves Your word. I know I can’t be the man You’ve called me to be without it. Every time I read it, let it bring life to me. Help me to dive in and love Your law. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Study: Psalm 119:165, Romans 10:17, Hebrews 4:12
