Why has my brook dried up?

August 4, 2017

“And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.” 1 Kings 17:6-7, NKJV.

The brook symbolizes a place of God’s supernatural provision, favor and blessings. The brook is great when favor is pouring and blessings are overflowing there…until it drys up.

Some of us may not have a dried up brook, yet some of us do. If this is you, here are some questions to ask yourself when you realize your brook has dried up or is about to:

Are you still experiencing the supernatural provision of God at your brook? God’s grace or anointing to help you succeed there?
Is the Holy Spirit revealing to you this brook is drying up where you are?
You don’t understand, but something new is on your heart?
Has God spoken to you about what is next?
Have you been there too long?
Could this be why you’re experiencing trouble at your brook?

It is a hard truth when you realize your brook isn’t a brook anymore. Also, when He shows you your hardship isn’t due an attack by the devil, but it’s because you’ve been somewhere too long. The Lord tells us He has something else for us, but we remained at the brook.

You could have stayed at a job, stayed with a business venture, be at a ministry, lived in a city, or involved in something that dried up. You ask why isn’t it like it use to be. Something’s changed. God has allowed it to dry up. The more you remain there, the less of God you will experience there. The less of all of His manifold favor and provision you will experience there–because His will for your life is always your brook.

Ask God the right questions and He will give you the right answers. The question for you right now is: why has my brook dried up?

Prayer: Father, has my brook dried up and it’s time to go on to what You have next for me? Help me to see this season in my life the way You see it, and show me what to do or where to go.I also ask for the faith and courage to obey You, no matter where my next brook is. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
