Your Refuge, Your Trust

May 27, 2018

“I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.’ ” Psalm 91:2, NKJV.

Trust has several meanings in the Old Testament, but it also means refuge. It is something that is strong and steady that you can hope in and be assured of life. When I think about a refuge, it always brings about a vision of a house with a porch and I am standing under that porch protected from the rain. I can hardly see myself, but I just mainly see what is covering me.

God is our refuge. When we take refuge in Him, we are taking our very lives and putting it under the mighty covering of God. When so much is happening around us, it’s in Him that we can run to and put our trust. In Him, we can take shelter in those times when it gets tough. When it’s hard to see your way through the storm, you can hide in God and He’ll get you through it all.

Prayer: I thank You Father God for being my refuge. I the midst of what I face, right now I make You my refuge. You are my shelter. Help me make my dwelling place, not the trouble, but make You my dwelling place. Let this show the trust that I will put in You and Your word! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
