“He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like [a flash of] lightning. Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on [serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you” Luke 10:18-19, Amplified.
“Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour” 1 Peter 5:8, Amplified.
The Lord has given us power to tread upon scorpions and serpents, symbolic of demonic spirits. We tread upon all the evil works of the devil, all of his plots, and all over his entrapments. God has unplugged them.
God has pulled the plug on all of the devil’s plans and schemes, and they have no power. The weapon may become formed, but it cannot prosper. It won’t work. He may try to rise against you, but he has no power against you. Since he has no power against you, he has no victory against you.
You can rise up and say no, I will tread over your scheme to divide, and I will forgive. Say no, I will not fall for the entrapment of anger, and my wife and I will have an awesome weekend together. Say no, I take authority over my responses, and they will be Spirit-led and with love. You aren’t devouring me. I’m devouring you because Jesus gave me authority!
Prayer: Father, I glorify Your great Name. There is none like You! I rejoice that I have authority. Most of all, I rejoice that you saved me. From the works of fear to condemnation, I have been given power. Now, I boldly take up my authority in the name of Jesus Christ! Help me always see with wisdom the plots and schemes of the wicked one and tread over them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
