Will you still serve Him?

October 8, 2018

“Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” Psalms 100:2

Anyone can serve the Lord when everything is going well. The children of Israel gladly praised the Lord after they crossed over the Red Sea. They gave Him glory with no hesitation after they saw how He delivered them from the Egyptian army. The challenge came when they walked through the wilderness and God allowed them to — to humble them and prove their heart to see if they would still serve Him.

Are you like the Israelites who lost faith the moment things became difficult? Or are you like His servant Job, who after losing everything still bowed down and worshiped the Lord? Will you let go of Jesus because things aren’t going your way right now? Or will you hold on and believe Him with all you’ve got?

Although you are being proven, still serve Him. Although you are learning humility and patience, still serve Him. He doesn’t want your worship and your obedience to be conditional. When all is well or when it isn’t, when He gives you what you want or when He doesn’t, no matter the wilderness, no matter the trial, serve Him. There is always a promise land after the wilderness. After obedience, there is always the blessing.

Prayer: My LORD, You are my King, and I worship You, not outcomes. I worship You with all my heart because of Who You are. I choose to trust You no matter what I face. Strengthen my heart. Strengthen my praise. Strengthen my faith and my joy in believing. Fill me, God, as I humble myself in worship to You. Let nothing steal my praise and my worship. It’s my lifeline. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
