“Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding” Proverbs 4:7, NKJV.
“But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God…” 1 Corinthians 1:30, NKJV.
Wisdom is the principle thing and above all, it is what you want to receive from God for every decision you make. It is like the foundation of a home–it’s what you build on. Wisdom is the foundation for all of the choices and plans, and you don’t want to approach doing anything without it.
When doing a work for God, get wisdom. When deciding on who to marry and when to marry, get wisdom. When making a financial decision, get wisdom. Practically, get all the information you can about that area and your decision can become very clear. In the multitude of counsel there is safety (see Prov. 11:14), so ask other godly men do they have any advice and even share any of their own experiences. You’ll be surprised at how God will speak to you through them and help you locate the exact wisdom you need for your situation.
Most of all, the Bible says that Jesus has been made unto us wisdom. He is our wisdom because He is the word of God (see John 1:14). It is principle, it is foundational, to find the wisdom Jesus give through the word, then follow his lead. Follow his peace.
Don’t settle and refuse to be pressured. You want peace. In these times, it is crucial as a man to be wise, to pray and understand God’s will for your life. Therefore, “if you don’t know, don’t go.” Stop and get the principle thing–wisdom.
Prayer: Father, I needed this. I have so many decisions before me. Give me wisdom. Help me to find the wisdom I need, even through the counsel of others. As I get all the information I can from Your word, as I pray about it, Jesus speak to me and I will follow your lead. Help me to stop and not move until I receive Your wisdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
