When the LORD Blesses You

May 8, 2018

“The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it” Proverbs 10:22, ESV.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” James 1:17, ESV.

When God blesses you, it makes you want to serve Him even more. His blessings are so good and perfect that once received, you don’t want to be blessed any other way, but by God alone.

Yes, you could bless yourself with what you think you desire, yet you’ll have to care for it yourself, watch over it yourself and make it prosper yourself. This is the sorrow (toil, labor, work) along with it when we do it, and not God. It’s when we had to have it now and didn’t want to wait on Him.

However, when the LORD blesses you, there will be no sorrow with it. When He blesses you, it will make you rich and full. You won’t lack. It will add to you joy and peace. With His blessing, there will be nothing missing and nothing broken. It will also benefit everyone around you. His blessings humble you and overwhelm you, to the point where it even causes you to say surely if not for Jesus, I don’t deserve this.

Be patient and wait on God. Refuse to bless yourself. Be resolute that if God doesn’t do it, then you don’t want it!

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your word today. When You bless me, it makes me rich and adds no sorrow to me. I desire the blessings that only come from You. If you don’t do it, I don’t want it. Help me to wait on Your best. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
