When Gods says I’ll give it to you

January 20, 2019

“Then Abram said, ‘Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!’ And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, ‘This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.’ Then He brought him outside and said, ‘Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.’ And He said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be.’ Genesis 15:3-4, NKJV.

Abram had lived for a long time with a desire. He wanted a son, and we know this from his response to God about being His great and exceeding reward. Yet, when he told God he had an heir already in the house, the Lord responded with no that’s not going to be your heir. You will have your own son to be your heir. I’m going to give it to you.

Sometimes, when you look at your life, you look at your conditions, your age, and you wonder will you receive your desire. You may feel like Abram, where you already have looked and accepted an alternative, you’ve settled in on something less, something second to what you really desire. But like God’s response to Abram’s desire, what has God spoken to you?

God is your great and exceeding reward, and in Him, in His will for you, in His timing, His best will meet your desire. His best far exceeds, goes far above we can ask or think of. Abram not only received his very own heir, but heirs as countless as the stars that couldn’t be numbered. God really does care about your desire and has spoken to you about them. The Father wants you to stand and fully believe what He said He will give you.

Prayer: Father, You know what I purely desire. You will give me what I desire and more because I delight myself in You. Forgive me if I’ve secretly given up or settled. I get right back in faith, and like Abram, I will believe what You’ve told me. It will exceed far above what I can ask or think of. I thank You for it coming to pass! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
