“Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table” Psalm 128:3, ESV.
“The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!” Proverbs 20:7 ESV.
As men, we want to accomplish things. We have a purpose to complete and a calling to fulfill. We want to conquer mountains and slay giants. We want our bank account to overflow.
When was the last time you had a movie night on the floor with your family? When was the last time you just stopped and asked your son how’s the weather in his life? Does your wife need some quality time with you?
Other accomplishments are good, but aside from your relationship with the Lord, there’s no greater accomplishment in life than your family. Your highest call, your first ministry is your family. There will be no greater legacy you leave. There’s power in being a man, and God appoints us to spearhead that everyone in your home is whole, thriving, heard, strong, loved, and enjoying their lives, becoming all God called them to be.
You being a great father and husband will be your greatest accomplishment.
Prayer: Father, I thank you for speaking to me. Help me not to neglect my home for the sake of my accomplishments. Help me be the husband my wife needs, and the example my children follow and are blessed! My first ministry is my family. Aside from knowing you, my family is my greatest call and accomplishment. Lead me on how to minister to my family today. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
