“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it” Matthew 16:24-25, NKJV.
Denying yourself of that cake isn’t easy. However, you make the decision to follow the doctor’s advice because his desire is for you to live. You may lose the cake for the moment, but you find health, happiness and you feel a whole lot better.
God is like that doctor. He is interested in you living more than know. His desire isn’t to harm you, but to get real life to you. Jesus doesn’t say deny yourself and follow Me into death. He did that. He desires us to follow Him into life–an abundant life found in Him. This is why He came. There is true peace, joy, love, strength, purpose, and fulfillment on the other side of the cross.
Life won’t get any better than a surrendered life in God’s hands. This is where God’s grace and favor pours in every area of your life. You will find yourself experiencing the blessings and victory God intended for you. By faith, take up your cross and follow Jesus into an amazing life far greater than you can ever imagine.
Prayer: Father, thank You for speaking to my heart. Today, I deny myself, take up my cross and follow You Jesus. Help me to love others like You today. I realize that life is not found in the the abundance of things, but in You. I reach out to You and give You my life, that I may find the amazing life You planned for me. Have Your way! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
