They’re fighting God, not you.

June 11, 2020

“‘Therefore, in the present case I advise you: leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.’” Acts 5:38-39 NIV.

There’s a saying that goes, “Your arms are too short to box with God”. Peter and the apostles were before the Sanhedrin after they were imprisoned, and the Sanhedrin were trying to prevent the apostles from preaching the Gospel when a respected Pharisee told the council that if what the apostles were doing was from God, the Sanhedrin wouldn’t be able to do anything to stop them. As a matter of fact, he said that they would be fighting against God, not the apostles. In other words, their arms are too short to box with God.

The same principle applies to all of us. If we apply ourselves to do what God has instructed us to do, anyone who opposes us isn’t fighting against us, but against God. In the same way that Peter and the apostles didn’t fear the Sanhedrin and others that opposed them, we shouldn’t fear anyone who
opposes us as we carry out God’s will for our lives. Any problem people may have with us living for God has nothing to do with us, but the God we serve. The Lord will protect you and provide for you, and no one can do anything about it!

Prayer: Father, I bless Your holy name! I have confidence that no one can hurt me or stop me as I follow Your word and do Your will. You promised that You would never leave me nor forsake me, and I rest in Your promise. I pray for Your mercies for anyone who opposes me because they are opposing You, and I ask You to bring those people into the knowledge of who You are and into repentance. I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen!
