Not expecting perfection from anyone but the Lord.

November 27, 2021

“So Jesus said to him, ‘Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God” Mark 10:18, NKJV.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” Romans‬ ‭3:23-24‬, NKJV‬‬.

Don’t expect perfection from anyone but the Lord.

Sometimes, even unawares, we can put those close to us, or those we admire on a pedestal that the can do no wrong. Yet, when we sit someone high in that perfection, the fall of offense and hurt is that much greater when it impacts you. You expected they could do no wrong, but when they offended you, you couldn’t bear it because you them high on a skyscraper, when they should have been on the couch on the floor next to you and I. We can cut someone out of our lives because, at the root of it all, we were expecting they would give us perfection but they didn’t.

Only Jesus can sit in that seat.

Just like we all do, they fell short of the glory of God and at that point, we need to extend His grace. God’s heart is forgiveness for everybody every day. When you don’t expect perfection from anybody, you can forgive everybody, including yourself.

We aren’t perfect, but we can walk in the perfect love found in Christ. It will abundantly bless people, and bless you too, to know that those that say they love you won’t leave you when you messed up.

Prayer: Father, thank You for showing me not to expect anyone to be perfect but You. Only You. You show me mercy and grace every day. Help me to forgive everybody and restore any relationship You tell me to. Perfect Your unconditional love in me, and give me the courage to walk in it today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
