“Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all” 1 Timothy 4:14-15, NKJV.
Just because a seed is in the ground, doesn’t mean it’s going to grow. It needs water and an abundance of it. Whatever the Lord has put in your heart to do, from becoming a better man in your walk, to doing a godly work, it needs your attention and an abundance of it. The truth is even some things may appear innocent, but the devil works subtly to draw our attention away from them.
If you are giving your time in the things that are not taking you anywhere, don’t give it your abundant attention. Like Timothy, give yourself wholly, abundantly, to the things that give back to you, and this will be your best year yet.
Some things don’t deserve all of your attention. To the degree that you give your attention to something, will be the degree of it that you possess. If you give a little attention to what God has put in your heart, at the end of the year, that’s how much of it you will have. However, the things that truly matter, the things that will shape you as a man and the very course of your life, the things that God has ordained for you, you will not lack because your gave an abundance of your attention to it and your progress will appear to all, blessing them.
Prayer: Father, help me to give my abundant attention to what You have called me to do. I need to give an abundance attention to what matters most. Help stay focused on Jesus and finishing my race. Guide me Holy Spirit. This will be my best year yet because of my abundant attention to what’s in my heart to do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
