“He who watches the wind [waiting for all conditions to be perfect] will not sow [seed], and he who looks at the clouds will not reap [a harvest]” Ecclesiastes 11:4, Amplified.
We can wait for the perfect conditions to do what God says, but the truth is, those perfect conditions may not ever come. If you wait for everything to be perfect before you obey what you’ve heard God tell you to do, you can think yourself out of it and spend years on the sidelines of your life.
In imperfect conditions, Jesus came to the earth, redeemed man, and brought new life. In imperfect weather, Peter briefly walked on water (Matthew 14:28). Everything won’t always be as you would like them to be. You may have to start in a hotel instead of a building. You may have to begin on your trusty laptop. You and your wife may have to just get up and drive somewhere instead of waiting on the finances for an expensive trip so you can get the quality time your marriage needs.
There may be winds all around, but the Lord says don’t observe them in these times. On the other side of your obedience, on the other side of your faith, is great reward. The winds are trying to keep you from sowing. The will of God is the perfect condition, and that’s all you need.
Prayer: Father, I give you glory and praise. Thank you for speaking to me. Help me not observe the winds, waiting on perfect conditions to do what you say. Help me, Holy Spirit, to hear and obey. Move when you say move. As I sow, I declare I will reap a tremendous harvest. No more holding up my assignment and God-given dreams. Your will is the only perfect condition I need. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
