Depend On His Love

August 28, 2021

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” John 15:5, NKJV.

When I read this scripture, there is one word that comes to my mind. Dependency. I have had moments where I’ve tried to depend on my love and find I’m not able. I try to love my kids in my strength, but I find myself ready to grab the belt for everything, instead of showing compassion. After I labored, the Lord reminded me that to be like Jesus requires Jesus Himself.

When your lamp lights up brightly in your house, it’s not the lamp, but rather the electricity supplying it with the power it needs to shine. When its’ plugged in, that power that you can’t see, it automatically flows. Jesus is saying we are the lamp, but if we’re not plugged in, we can’t love like Him.

We have to let Him do it through us. Like we depend on a chair to hold us up when we sit down, we rely on Jesus to hold us up with His love, His self-control, His long-suffering, and kindness. Out of everything people need around you right now, it’s love. Be encouraged to lay down your own ability to love, but abide and depend on Jesus to love supernaturally through you in this hour.

Prayer: Thank You Father. I get it now. I ask that you give me an empowering revelation of depending in Jesus. Help me cease from my own ability, dwell and depend on Jesus, and He will empower me. Your Spirit will bear the fruit of love supernaturally through me. People need to be loved them right now, and that’s what I will do. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
