“The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of wisdom [its starting point and its essence], and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding and spiritual insight” Proverbs 9:10, Amplified.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning, the starting point, the birthplace of wisdom. The next question is then what is the fear of the Lord? The fear of the Lord is to have a deep respect and reverence for Him. It is also something that can truly unlock the fear of God and wisdom to operate in your life. It is to be in awe of Him.
We not only reverence Him, but the awesomeness of God compels the deeper reverence. We not only respect Him, but the awesomeness of God compels the deeper respect leading to a deeper, sincere, heartfelt worship. Just as awe is defined, He is extremely impressive and inspires great admiration to you. He is extremely good and excellent. See the Lord all around you and give Him the glory as God alone. The fear of the Lord is to worship Him and to be in awe of Him.
Meet God in a place of deep reverence and awe of Him. It will unlock wisdom and obedience. It will humble you, while He exalts you. It will change your life.
Prayer: Father, I stand in awe of You. You inspire great admiration in me. You are extremely good and excellent in all Your ways. Help me to be aware of You at all times. Teach me each day how to fear You and be in awe of You. I thank You that my deep reverence for You will cause a birth of great wisdom and a new level that I have never been in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
