“Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son who was lame in his feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel; and his nurse took him up and fled. And it happened, as she made haste to flee, that he fell and became lame. His name was Mephibosheth” 2 Samuel 4:4, NKJV.
Mephibosheth was the son of Jonathan, David’s closest friend. He was mistakenly dropped when he was five years old and he became lame. Yet, David sought him out and found him. He brought him from dwelling in Lodebar–a place without pasture–into a place of restoration of everything that belonged to Jonathan’s father, he had no lack and he ate at the king’s table for the rest of his days.
If we’re honest, some of us men are just as Mephibosheth. Did someone drop you? Meaning, did someone fail to give you what you needed to walk in everything God has planned for you? They may not have meant to, but they did. Ultimately, they fell short of giving you some important things as a man in life that could have made your course a lot smoother, a little better.
Yet, as David did with Mephibosheth, so has the Jesus done for you. He sought you out and found you. God sent His Son Jesus to remove your sin, to find you in a place without a pasture and carry you into a place of where there is restoration, no lack and you will sit at the King’s table all of your days. No matter what happened, He will make your life what it should be. Keep walking with the Lord and what seemed like couldn’t be turned around, what door couldn’t be opened, what couldn’t be changed in you, He will do it. The Father will make your latter better than your beginning.
Prayer: God, I was made lame and lacked many things as a man. As a result, I made some mistakes in life. Made some wrongs turns. Yet, like Mephiboseth You have picked me up Jesus. Be a Father to me and open doors of favor for me. I thank You for healing my life now. My end will be I will not lack and I will eat at the King’s table all my days. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
