Wife Material

January 16, 2019

“But God told Samuel, ‘Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart’.” 1 Samuel 16:7, Message Bible

When I met my wife, she was a freshman in college wearing some blue jean shirts, a tank top shirt and a baseball cap to the side. She looked like she was straight from Atlanta. She was cute, but she wasn’t dressed to the nine. However, for some reason it was just something about her. It wasn’t the outward appearance that the Lord was pointing me to look at. God was pointing me to the heart.

As the year begins, you may be believing God for a wife. Sometimes, love won’t look like you think it should. We can have a preconceived notion on what someone is going to be, or look like when we find love, but she may not be the one God points you to. You may be looking for the supermodel, when God points you to the woman right next to you at church. You may be looking for her name in lights, when God points you to the woman in the cubicle at work.

You think you know what you want until love shows you. You thought you needed a model and nothing would keep you from her, until you meet someone you can be yourself with. Until you meet someone that is beautiful, wise, and you can’t stop laughing while you’re with her.

Have an open heart to who God points you to. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, because there will be something about her. The Lord will show you who is wife material for you.

Prayer: Father, thank You for speaking to me. Yes, I do desire a wife–a good one. Help me not miss Who you have for me. Help not to be look so much on the outward appearance, that I comprise the heart. That’s what You look at and that’s what I’ll look at too. Keep me sensitive Holy Spirit to who You point out who is wife material for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
