Unchecked Pride

July 23, 2017

“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6, NKJV.

It not only takes faith to receive God’s Word about you. It not only takes courage to receive God’s Word about you. It takes humility.

I use to think being humble was only when I would tell God I can do nothing without You. It sounds really good. It sounds real holy. Yet, when He tells me you can do it with Me, I would say, “I can’t”. When He says everything I have said about you, everything I have put in you, you are able to do it through Christ, I would say “I can’t do it”. This is exalting what I say above what God says. It is pride.

Have you been there brother? Are you there now? Examine yourself because this could be an unchecked area of pride in your life. Every time the Lord says you are called by Him to do great things for His glory, you say I’m not. When Jesus leads you to do something, you say I can’t. It is pride, with your unbelief, that is hindering you from receiving what He says about you, and finally doing what He says.

We are in an hour where we have to humble ourselves that the grace of God may abound. When we humble ourselves, then the grace, the power, the mighty hand of God will be seen and experienced in our lives. This is the hour for men to get beyond our “I can’t”, every last one of them, and humble ourselves to who we are. Be willing to receive God’s Word about you. You are everything the Lord says you are and you can do everything He says you are called to do!

Prayer: Father, I never looked at pride this way. Deal with any pride in me. Just as I can humbly say I can’t do nothing without You, I lift my hands and humbly say I can do all things through You. Help me to apply humility in every area of my life that Your grace may abound and use me mightily in this hour. I love You Lord and I thank You! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
