“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost” (John 19:30).
In light of all we know we have done, we can find it difficult to comprehend what He simply says, “It is finished”. Jesus finished, so we can finish. Jesus is our greatest example, and since He overcame, we now overcome through Him.
If He lives in you, He will help you forward to finish. Do not look for the encouragement regarding whether you can do it. Do not look for the pat on your shoulder. Do not yearn for the approval of men. It is not a requirement or prerequisite to winning in life. This is your race. Run with confidence, joy and authority. It’s your prize and God is all you need to obtain it.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for the finished work of Christ. Thank you for making me in your image and likeness. Help me to be a finisher like you. Help me to be an overcomer like you. Help me to run with confidence, not in my own ability, but confidence in your grace and power. Strengthen me LORD as I move forward in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
