“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9, NKJV
While coming home from work one day, there was an ice cream truck parked in our community. They had a sign up that said “Free Today”. I thought to myself, there must be a catch and that I probably would have to buy something first. Yet, I saw some residents and their kids go up to it and get a variety of ice cream treats. They were happy. I asked one lady, “Is that ice cream free?” She said, “Yes! It’s free! The community paid for it.” I then went and told my wife and we all went and received free ice cream that day.
You may feel about Jesus how I felt about that ice cream truck. However, the truth is there is no catch. You’re forgiven and there’s no catch. What God is offering you is free. Jesus paid for your complete freedom and it’s yours to receive. You can receive and have what He has promised in His word.
Don’t be reluctant to receive God’s free gift. The life that God has for you, the joy, peace, and love He has is yours. There is no catch.
Prayer: Father, I give you praise. forgive me if I have doubted Your goodness, Your mercy and grace. I gladly receive everything Jesus purchased for me. Set me free. Help me to live free today. Fill my heart with your love, peace and joy. I freely receive the life you have for me. May I walk in all You’ve promised. May I love others the way You love me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
