Spending Without Borders

February 25, 2017

Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.” 2 Kings 4:6-7, NKJV.

Not having a budget is like having a city without walls. It gives the thief free access to steal, kill and destroy the financial area of our lives. In my personal life, I’ve had to tell myself, “No, I will submit to the will of God! Just because we have the money, we will not just go out and spend it without any boundaries!”

The devil’s objective is to keep you and your family financially unstable and without peace. This is one reason why the door of poverty continues to revolve in some believer’s lives. You can have temperance to faithfully pray, but it is just as spiritual to have temperance over your debit card and your bank account. Do not spend money without control, and without submission to God’s order. Be a wise steward, considering not only the present, but the future goals as the man of your home. Consider where God is taking you and your family. It’s not God’s will that you possess your wants, but struggle for your needs.

As a man, we want so much for our wife and children. We’ll give them the world. However, we must trust God with the timing. Let His will be a wall and a border for you. Spending with walls will keep you in the will of God, which is without question the safest place to be. As you obey the Lord by budgeting, paying your debt, and following God’s wisdom for your money, He will bless you and make you a blessing.

Prayer: Father, this is truth and it’s right! Help me to walk in this wisdom. I say to myself, “No, you will submit to the will of God, and just because we have the money, we will not just go out and spend it without any walls!” I ask Lord to give me walls of budget and the grace to stay within them. You are taking me and my family somewhere financially and I thank You for it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
