Sometimes, you have to encourage yourself.

April 29, 2017

“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6, KJV

As men, we have a lot of responsibility and we pursue to handle it all. However, we can fall short. We can get greatly distressed and heavy. This is exactly what happened to King David. David felt defeated and needed to be encouraged. Yet, he didn’t go to his friend. He didn’t go to the prophet. To receive what he needed, he went directly to Lord.

Sometimes, no one will be able to encourage you. At that point, you must decide that you will not stay in that place heavy. I will encourage myself in the Lord! No one can encourage you like the Lord. No one can show you the way out like the Lord! No one can lift your burdens like the Lord. No one can revive you like the Lord. No one can give you a second wind like the Lord.

He will strengthen the core of you. He will put might in your heart. His peace will keep you when your back is against the wall. His Spirit will comfort you in times of betrayal or loss. His Word will remind you of Who He is and Who you are. In prayer, the Father will speak to You and assure you that everything is going to be alright.

Do as David did. Get away from everyone and encourage yourself in the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, I thank You that I can encourage myself in You. There is no one like You. Encourage me Lord. You are my fortress, my healer and my Provider. I don’t feel like it, but I praise You now. I receive strength in my heart and peace in my mind Father. Thank You Father for lifting my head and showing me what to do. I have the victory! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
