Redeem the Time

August 15, 2018

“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” Ephesians 5:15-17, NKJV.

I woke up to seven headlines in the news: 5 shot inside Wal-Mart, 8 killed in an Oregon crash, benches clear in LA for a fight, Bridge collapse toll, New Mexico judge receives threats, Southern California earthquake, and wins historic primary. Of the seven headlines, six of them were bad news. It hit me that the evil that is in the world now and that we are truly in the last days.

With all of these things we see, the Bible says wake up and see that the days are evil, so redeem the time. Redeem means in the Greek to buy back, ransom, to rescue from loss; improve opportunity. As you realize the times we’re in, let your perspective be more and more on rescuing others before they are lost. More and more, allow God to use us to do good, so we can see more good in the world. From giving your time to helping someone, to launching that idea God gave you; whatever you can do to impact this world with good while you yet have the opportunity to do so. People are hurting, hungry for love, and in desperate need for Jesus Christ. Be a redeemer like Jesus, and get someone back to God.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for this understanding today. Help me to redeem the time. The days are evil and people need to know you. Use me to help minister salvation to someone today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
