“He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great” Luke 6:48-49, NKJV.
A foundation is something sure, firm and strong, set in place to build any house or structure upon. As a man, you are as a foundation for your home, and you are a leader of those in it. You have to be sure, firm, and strong. Your family needs you to be sure, firm, and strong.
The only way you can be strong, no matter what comes your way, is if you have the right foundation yourself. If you build your life, your marriage, and your home on the Rock, which is Jesus Christ and His word, He will make you like a rock in these times. He becomes your firm foundation when you learn of him, apply his instructions regarding how to live, and depend on God’s Word as your constant guide.
Like a house, a man can look impressive on the outside, yet with the wrong foundation, it is only a matter of time when the right flood, the right pressure, the right storm comes to make it crumble. With the Lord as your firm foundation, He will help you build something great in your life. He will help you build what will stand and endure.
Prayer: Thank you, Father God, for being this man’s firm foundation. I will build my life on your ways and principles. Anything can come my way, but in Jesus, I am steady as a rock. I am firm, sure, and strong. Help other men and I always to put our trust in Your mighty word. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
