Quick obedience towards your wife.

December 19, 2016

“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ” Ephesians 5:21, NIV.

“Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers” 1 Peter 3:7, NIV.

We talk about having quick obedience to God, but we also have to be quick to listen to the needs of our spouse and do what they ask.

One evening, my wife shared her heart with me. She wanted us to increase the romance in our marriage. She wanted to feel more cherished and loved. Because I had been working long hours at work, I would come home feeling tired. I knew what my wife needed and I wanted to minister to those needs quickly. After I spent some quality time with her, in return, she did some things that I was desiring her to do without even being asked. One seed of selfless love opened the door for an entire harvest of love in return.

A lot of times it isn’t a prayer issue. It’s a matter of listening to what your wife wants from you and doing it. As long as it lines up with the Word of God, it is the will of God to meet her needs.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your Word and for Your great desire to bless my marriage. Help me to walk in Your love toward her. Help me to listen to her needs and quickly look for ways to meet those needs. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
