Possess what God has for you

January 9, 2017

“Then Joshua said to the children of Israel: “How long will you neglect to go and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers has given you?” Joshua 18:3, NKJV.

There is a difference between having something and possessing something. A son can have an inheritance, but he still has to go and possess what has been given to him. God had given the children of Israel the promised land, yet they had to go and possess it.

As a man, I had to face the reality that if I don’t work the plan that God has given me, what is in my heart won’t happen. I won’t ever actually hold it in my hands. I am seeing more and more that I have to go get, go possess, what God has given me.

If you want what God has for you, if you want what He has shown you, if you want it to come to pass, you are going to have to go possess what He said is yours. It is not just going to happen. You are going to have to make it happen.

Don’t neglect or be slack about it. Sometimes, procrastination and neglect is fear disguised, which is something you must be honest about. Open up to God in prayer about any fears. Ask Him for the courage to face it head on and go get what the Father has for you.

God will not give you what you cannot possess!

Prayer: Father God, thank you for speaking directly to my heart. You wouldn’t have given me this dream, this idea, these goals, this ministry, if I couldn’t possess it. You gave it to me, therefore, You will help me do it. Thank You Lord for courage to possess what You have already given me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
