Hope in God!

January 26, 2017

“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance” Psalm 42:5, NKJV.

The psalmist said this two different times in this psalm, denoting that he had a tossing, a struggle, going on in his soul to be strong and hope in God. When he wrote this, he was going through a hard time, having been exiled by Saul from his home. He longed to be back in the house of God, among the people of God and freely give God praise there. He longed to be where he use to be.

You may be experiencing some hard times. You may long to be where you use to be in your life. You may feel confused about where you’re headed. You may feel you were in the perfect will of God and you praised Him, but how can you praise Him where you are.

Hope in God. He will do what He said He will do. He has a master plan, and even when it feels like He isn’t at work at all, that’s when He is doing His best work in you. He’s doing His best work for you. When it feels like He is the farthest away, is when He is the closest. He will bring you out and bring you into a great place.

Let nothing stop your praise, for there is power, joy and strength in it. Praise Him and experience His presence, as He fills your cup and provides the encouragement deep down that you need. Jesus lives on the inside of you. Living waters flow inside of you (John 7:38) and be reminded that you can hope in the Lord.

Prayer: Thank You God for Your word. Why be disquieted my soul? Hope in God, and I will yet praise You! I may not understand what You are doing and my faith is being tested, but I can trust You are doing your best work in me. Help me to be a rock and have joy as Your perfect will unfolds. I will expect in faith and hope in You! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
