Let Him prune you so you can live!

March 1, 2019

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit” John 15:1, NKJV.

When a tree or flower is pruned, it is being pruned for a greater purpose. It is pruned for the purpose of bearing more fruit and removing what’s dead, so it may live.

This is what God does with us. There are things in our lives that are unfruitful, therefore, the Lord deals with us in those areas, not for the purpose of harm, but for the purpose to bear more of the likeness of Him in us and through us. The fruit of His Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5:22-23).

If you are not bearing them, God is going to prune you. He will cut away offense, unforgiveness, laziness, impatience, fornication, rebellion, selfishness, pride, unfaithfulness, and other works of the flesh that stagnant your growth. He will even allow and use circumstances to prune and get what is not producing off of you. It may not feel good, but it is good for you, as He removes what is dead, that you may freely live! Pruning precedes growth. Pruning precedes power. Pruning precedes purpose and being Christ-like.

Yield to His pruning process, and let Christ be formed more and more in you.

Prayer: Father, it doesn’t feel good, but prune me. Make this man more like You! Work on me to bear more fruit for You. Cut away any sin and anything that is not like You. I yield and rely on You Jesus to give me the strength to grow from what I’m going through. Thank You Jesus for being formed in me to be more like you and truly live. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
