Get Your Finances Together

January 13, 2018

“Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds” Proverbs 27:23, ESV.

A number of us know when the devil is attacking us spiritually. He attempts to keep you from spending time with God and obeying His word. He tempts us to sin, or walk in fear. But for many of us, it isn’t your spiritual walk that the enemy attacks you in. It’s your finances. He wants this area to remain like a secret, and as a believer, you never figure money out. It is spiritual to manage your money and prosper financially. The enemy tries to hold back the Body of Christ and hold you back is this area. He knows how better your life will be. He knows just how much you’ll help the kingdom and just how great of a blessing you would be.

Are you spending more than you make? Do you live above 70% of your gross income? Do you buy your wants, but struggle with your needs each month? Do you have any money in savings for an emergency? How’s your giving into God’s house? How often are you eating out? Can you downsize? How’s your debt? Are your credit cards spent to the maximum–or very close to it? As a man, do you have life insurance?

While you pour all of your diligence into praying, put all your diligence into budgeting too. Know where scriptures are, but also know where you money goes. Don’t just fast from food, but you have no self-control and patience regarding the money you spend. It is biblical and it pleases God when you faithfully manage and multiply what He’s put into your hands.

No matter your income, you can get wisdom from God, make wise decisions, manage it well, and prosper. If you need it, if this area of your life is out of control, humble yourself and seek some financial help (for example-Dave Ramsey, financial expert). Either way, get your finances together.

Prayer: Father, wow. Thank You for speaking to me practical financial wisdom today. Help me to get my finances together, Show me how to apply diligently Your word. Help me to trust You and consistently give into Your house. I ask You Holy Spirit to lead the way regarding my bank account. As I do, I know You will bless my finances. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
