“Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver…Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house” 1 Chronicles 29:2-3, KJV.
David prepared with all of his might to aid his son in building God’s house. He encouraged the people to give and they willingly did. He gave more out of his own goods than what was gathered to build God a house. It lets us know David’s ambition, his drive to be successful, was intense toward completing this holy work.
When our affection is set on building God’s kingdom, on doing a work for Him, our actions, our giving, our pace, and our time will show it. Above all, our actions will reflect our ambition. With the work of God, take inventory if you are preparing for it with all of your might. Examine your drive toward it coming to pass and why.
You are valuable and you have much to offer. God made you great. You are called to complete a holy work and you are equipped to do it, yet your ambition, your drive, is what the devil wants to be dormant. He doesn’t want your ambition to catch on fire. A man of ambition will climb high and dig deep to do what is in his heart. A man of ambition will pull away from his past mistakes to God’s success ahead. A man of ambition will start with whatever God has put in his hands right now and build something.
Make any adjustments needed and ask God to make you a driven man, because your ambition is needed to complete God’s work.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your Word. I set my affection on You. Examine me and my drive toward the work You have called me to. Whether deep down I don’t believe or I’m afraid, deal with my heart Lord. Build my ambition Lord. Set me on fire! Make me a man of ambition. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
