You’ve been purchased by God: Glorify Him.

November 14, 2019

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NKJV.

If you bought a new car and sat inside of it, you would desire for that vehicle to do what you purchased it for. It’s yours. You paid a price, and you bought it for your goodness and pleasure.

Just like that new car, we have been bought with a price. Jesus paid a great price for you and me, the way we choose to treat our body and our spirit is an indicator of how we honor that price. We humbly are now God’s and we have been purchased for His goodness and pleasure.

I was tempted to look at a woman in a magazine in the grocery store line. I said, “No! Get behind me Satan!” I said I will glorify God. Jesus didn’t put in all that work to defeat sin for us so that it still reigns over us. We can reign over it. The Holy Spirit (Who is absolutely holy and perfect) now lives in us, and He dwells within us with strength for character and power. He is all that we need to live holy and experience the goodness of God.

The Lord wants us to walk in all that He purchased us for. When we wholeheartedly do what He created us for, we glorify Him. When we flee sexual sin in our body and spirit, we’re glorifying Him. When we live holy, when we are faithful to our wives, and when using our gifts for His glory, that glorifies the Father. The most satisfying and greatest joy you will have in life is when God Almighty is looking down at how you live as a man and is well-pleased.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your Word. Thank You, Jesus. I have been bought with the price. Help me to understand that price and honor it. Help me to glorify You Father in my body and spirit, which are Yours now. Be glorified in me against sexual sin and keep me for one woman–my wife. With You Holy Spirit, I can reign over sin. I can live holy before You. I declare the world will see You glorified in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
