Don’t Change Your Treasure

October 22, 2021

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” Matthew 6:19-21, NKJV

I’ve had my mind on stocks lately and learning how to make solid, long-term investments. Yet, I am reminded where the real treasure is.

There’s no greater solid investment you can make than what you store up in heaven. There’s no greater return than an eternal one. Money can be taken from you. Material things will fade away, and won’t make the trip from this life that you will one day take. What a scripture that helps us keep things in perspective.

Outward circumstances will tell you to change your treasure, change what your heart is counts as great worth, change what you live for. Yet, don’t change your treasure. A right treasure means a right heart. Being sitted with Christ is your treasure. Being rich in good works and advancing His kingdom is your treasure. To love God is your treasure, and be encouraged to keep storing them up in heaven. One day, when your race is done, you’re going to see what you stored up and you’re going to be so blessed eternally.

Prayer: Father, thank You for speaking to me. You know just what I need to keep a right perspective on this life. Things aren’t the true treasure. You are, and I’m sticking to valuing in life what You value. May all my focus and time reflect where my treasure is, where my heart is. Help me to always remember that whatever I do for You will last, and will not fade. It’s being stored up in heaven as blessings eternally. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
