You can have money, but money shouldn’t have you.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” Matthew 6:33, NKJV.

“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy 8:18, NKJV.

When God is first, you are glad to use your power to get wealth for His glory and to be a great blessing. When He’s first, it’s not about yourself, but the kingdom. It’s okay to have money, as long as money doesn’t have you.

God says seek His kingdom and righteousness first. Above all, His will and His plans for you is most important to you. Money doesn’t give you peace, the Lord gives you peace. Money is not what you love. God is Who you love, and He can tell you at all times what to do with it. You don’t live for money, you live for God, trusting Him when He says He’ll continually bless the work of your hands and add all things to you because He can trust you with it.

Seeking first the kingdom also means that you always pursue financial growth within His laws and principles, according to the borders of His righteousness. If you do whatever it takes to get it, money has you. Don’t operate in wickedness to make your business grow. Don’t lie, cheat or gouge people to get money. Don’t stop giving to the spreading of the Gospel so that doesn’t lessen what you have. More will be given when you do! More ideas to create wealth will be given when you do. Remember, everything you have, it’s because of God’s goodness shown to you.

We can’t afford to let money have us as men right now. There’s people to reach and much work for the kingdom to do.

Prayer: Father, thank You for showing me it’s okay to have money, but we do it Your way and let You add things to us. You are first in my life and I will keep you first, not the pursuit of money. Show me Your will to create the wealth you have for me. I declare I have more than enough financially to provide for my family and to be great blessing! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
