You are the Church

April 9, 2017

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed” Luke 4:18, ESV.

These are not the days to be a believer that just goes to church. People are hurting and going through the deepest of situations. And with all that is happening around us, we have the answer. They need you and I to be the church. The same presence of God and power you experience at your church service, the same love you experience at your church service, is the same power and love that you carry everywhere you are. It is because Christ lives in you and you are the church. The kingdom of God is in you.

Don’t just go to church. Be the church. Be an extension of Jesus Christ. Be His hands and reach out. Be His feet and go to someone’s need. Be His heart and listen to someone’s situation to help deliver them. You are equipped with His Word and the Holy Spirit, anointed to be like Jesus. People may not come to your church, but nothing says you can’t take the church to them. Let His love, power, wisdom and authority flow through you. Offer pray to someone, ask them do they have a need and meet it, share the wisdom of God, be good to them like the Lord would, empower and build them up, set them free! You are the church!

Prayer: Father, thank You for making me the church. I see the church isn’t the four walls, but it is us Your people. Show me more how I can be the church wherever I am and with whoever I meet. If someone isn’t coming to church, give me the courage to take the church to them. Christ lives in me. The kingdom is in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Study: Luke 9:2, Acts 1:8; 2:42-47; 8:5-6 & 12
