“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” Philippians 3:13-14, NKJV.
My wife and I have six kids, and I absolutely love them. Yet it’s hard sometimes, and I ask myself why in the world we had six of them. But I can’t return them like a shirt I bought at a store. I come to the reality that it’s something that I can’t change. So that’s when I look up, and God looks back at me. He reminds me of His perspective. It gives me joy that He knew it all from the beginning, and He’s too big to understand the whys. Although it can’t change, His plans for me are unchangeable. Then, without them knowing my moment of struggle, I go slap my kids a big high five, show them some fatherly love, and tell them it’s a great day!
In your life, there are things that have happened or decisions you have made that you can’t change. There’s no receipt. But choose not to walk in regret and trust the Father, whose plans are unchangeable. Choose to look up and live. It may not change, but you can. Receive His abundant mercy and grace right where you are. It’s up to you to take God’s hand and let Him lead you into enjoying your life and find the blessings in the midst of what you can’t change.
Prayer: Father, I needed to hear this. Thank You! I receive Your heart, perspective, and attitude and let Your grace kick in to help me live, thrive, and see every blessing in the midst of what I can’t change. I rebuke regret and fear. In Christ, I choose to move forward, trusting You still have an awesome plan for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
