“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” John 15:5, NKJV.
When a baby is born, they immediately cry for its mother. They desire to stay connected, just as in the womb, knowing where everything–their food and protection come from.
We may be grown men, but we must stay connected to Jesus and learn the discipline of abiding in Him. It extends beyond spending time with the Lord in the morning. This is where dwelling in Him begins. He is the True Vine, and we are the branches, and like a baby apart from that womb, apart from Christ, we can do nothing.
It is humbling to realize you can produce no good fruit on your own. You will find more and more these are not times to pursue to be strong on your own because your strength, your love, and patience will surely run out. It will only take you so far. Yet, when you live connected to Jesus when things happen, you won’t be shaken.
Pray and praise in the morning, yet continue to pray and give God thanks. Abide in His word in the morning, and continue thinking about His promises. Acknowledge the Lord in your decisions so He can lead you to walk in His will. These are small keys that will help you abide in Him.
Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, that you’re all I need. I ask for the grace to abide in you, and Your word dwells in me today. May abiding become how I live, and let your love overflow in me. Because I dwell in you, I will not be shaken and live a strong, fruitful life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
