“Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning” Luke 12:35, NKJV.
In biblical times, to keep your lamp burning, you would have to do two things. One is to trim the wick within it, and the other was to make sure you keep oil in it.
It can be easy to allow your lamp to quit burning, but don’t let it. His Spirit and His anointing are symbolic of His oil, and you can come to Him to be filled and refreshed when you are low. Trim your wick by keeping what’s important to God, important to you. Remain balanced and wise, keeping the Lord and your calling as first in your life. Keep praying, praising, and seeking the Lord through His word. Continue to desire His will to be done in you and ready to serve others.
Jesus isn’t here yet, but He’s coming is closer than ever–even when you don’t expect Him to. There may be darkness all around you, or situations in your own life, but with Him, you can overcome anything. Be encouraged and keep your lamp burning.
Prayer: Father, I give You praise. In the midst of the darkness and situations in my own life, help me to keep my lamp burning. Keep me on fire for You! Help me to abide in Your presence and in Your word. Use me greatly in these times. I’m ready for any service You desire of me. May my heart stay focused, following strong after You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
